After shooting Bejal and Brittany's engagement session last summer, I knew their April wedding would be one of my favorites of the year. I remember when they first described their wedding dreams to me during our first consultation last year, and when Bejal said "peacock themed with Hindu influences," I was hooked! I always love when couples create a wedding experience that is unique to their story, and this Indian-fusion wedding with a relaxed, warm environment of loving friends and family was definitely true to Bejal and Brittany.
One of my favorite elements of Brittany and Bejal's NC Botanical Garden ceremony was the layout of the space. Instead of walking down a center aisle, Brittany and Bejal processed together but on separate sides of the circular perimeter, around the guests instead of cutting through them. I also loved that they did their first dance right after they said their vows and kissed!
Brittany and Bejal, thank you so much for inviting me to be witness and photograph your wedding celebration. Your cousin's speech at dinner still lingers with me: courage is doing what is right and true, even in the face of opposition. Your love for one another is a courageous and beautiful one--something worth celebrating. In light of the two year anniversary of Amendment 1 passing in North Carolina this week, it is sad that some people still need to be convinced of this. My hope is that when you look at these wedding photos, the deep love displayed stands as a testament to others.
